West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Yojana
West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Yojana is a conditional cash transfer scheme that was started by the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banarjee in 2012. The main objective of this scheme is to promote secondary education among women and to prevent the marriage of girls before the official age of 18 years.
This scheme is for the adolescent girl who belongs to the economically backward section. Under this scheme, the West Bengal government will provide financial assistance to girls in the age group of 13 years to 19 years for their education. K1 A scholarship of Rs 750 will be provided to the beneficiary who is in 8th to class 12 and K2 Rs 25000 will be provided to the girls on completing 18 but the condition is beneficiary should be unmarried and studying.

The objectives of Kanyashree Prakalpa are as follows:

- Under WB Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme, the state government will provide financial assistance for girls’ education.

Financial Assistance Provided Under Kanyashree Prakalpa Yojana

- Under Kanyashre k2 Financial assistance of Rs 25000 is given to the beneficiaries after completing 18 years and they should be unmarried and should be enrolled in any academic or occupational pursuit.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme, the applicant has to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- The applicant should be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
- The applicant’s age should be in between 13 years to 18 years.
- The applicant must be studying in class 8 to class 12.
- The annual family income of the applicant must be less than Rs 1,20,000.
- Girls who are handicapped have 40% or more disabilities or are living in a house registered under Juvenile Justice Act, 2000, or have lost both their parents can apply for Kanyashree even if their family income is high than Rupee. 1,20,000 per annum.
- Only girls with special needs studying below class 8 can apply for this scheme.
- This scheme has also been launched for various vocational, technical, and sports courses.
